The Course
at River Oaks Senior Members Golf Association
The Course
at River Oaks Senior Members Golf Association is an association restricted
to senior men who are at least 50 years old, and currently active
members at River Oaks. If you are not a member and wish to become
one, contact the Pro Shop. The Association sponsors a four man
scramble tournament each Wednesday at the course. The sign in time
deadline is each Wednesday at 9:30. The approximate tee time is 10:00.

This Week |
The Course at Rivers Oaks Senior Members Golf Association’s tournament
was played this past Wednesday (2-1-12) in spring like conditions.
Forty two players entered the tournament. The scores for the five teams
placing in the tournament were very close.
First place with a six under par 65 went to the team of Charlie Hill,
Gordon Sizemore, Mel Snook, and Dale Ely. Four teams tied for second
place with five under par 66’s. Team one was Jim Gowen, Don Baugh,
Allan Isom and Harry Pace. Team two included George Austin, Pat
Shipman, Sid Tate, and William Bridges. Team three players were Wayland
Holloway, Ferrell Stokes, Moe Hinnenkamp and Bob Raynor. The final
second place team was David Martin, Henry Huckeba, Billy Bell and Tommy
Nance.
Closest to the pin results for the tournament were: #5 David Martin, #8
Mike Roberts, #11 Ferrell Stokes, #13 Glen Dorsey, and #14 Mel; Snook.
Jim Gowen won golf balls in the weekly drawing for players entering the
tournament. The next senior members’ tournament is scheduled for
February 8th.

The Course at Rivers Oaks Senior Members Golf Association’s tournament
was played this past Wednesday (1-18-12)in cold temperatures. Despite
the cold weather, twenty-one players entered the tournament. Propane
heaters and cart covers were the order of the day.
First place with a nine under par 62 went to the team of Tom Howard,
Harry Pace, Glen Olree, Sid Tate, and Dale Ely. The second place team
with a seven under par 64 was David Martin, Bob Lashlee, Jack Boustead
and Chester Barner.
Closest to the pin results for the tournament were: #5 Dick Blankenship,
#8 Jesse Sharp, #11 Jesse Sharp, #13 Chester Barner, and #14 Louren
Ross.
Jesse Sharp won golf balls in the weekly drawing for players entering
the tournament. The next senior members’ tournament is scheduled for
January 25th.
Our
enduring thanks to Bill McCrary who "retired" as President of the Senior
Members Association at the 2011 Banquet. Bill started the Association
in 2001 and served his peers in a very special way by organizing the
tournament every Wednesday. Bill will be missed because of his
tireless efforts to make the Association a great success.
